Hello! I’m Darren Crawley, and my journey in the world of sports and public relations has been nothing short of an exciting adventure. Growing up, I harboured dreams of becoming a global sports star, initially trying my luck in football and later in golf. Despite my best efforts, the playing field wasn’t where my true skills lay. This realisation sparked my curiosity about the dynamic world of sports beyond the athletic spotlight.

I kick-started my academic journey by earning an undergraduate degree in English and History from Dublin City University. Eager to delve deeper into the realms of communication and public relations, I pursued a series of postgraduate degrees to equip myself with the necessary expertise.

My educational journey led me to Fitzwilliam Institute, where I earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations with a focus on event management, social media, and online PR. Furthering my commitment to excellence, I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in PR & Communications from the European Institute of Communications. Those qualifications earned me membership of the European Institute of Public Relations and to enhance my understanding of specialized areas, I pursued diplomas in Internal Communications and EU & Public Affairs.

Balancing my pursuit of knowledge with practical experience, I took on the role of Internal Communications Executive at BoyleSports.

The heart of my professional experience lies in my role as the Communications and Press Manager for Dundalk Football Club. This role not only allowed me to immerse myself in the vibrant world of sports but also provided a platform to apply my skills in strategic communication, media relations, and event management.

Currently residing in Dundalk, I am open to exciting opportunities in press and communications anywhere. My passion for sports, coupled with a rich background in public relations, fuels my dedication to contributing meaningfully to the dynamic and ever-evolving field of sports PR.

EXPERIENCE

Communications and Press Manager of Dundalk FC, 46 European Matches across UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. Involved in 16 trophy wins.

10 years of writing for dundalkfc.com, Dundalk FC Magazine and extratime.com. Have also appeared in the Irish Times, Irish Daily Mail and Dundalk Democrat.

Over 10 years of experience in Public Relations as Communications and Press Manager for Dundalk Football Club winning SWI Press Officer of the Year in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2020.
